I have a small illustration in the New Yorker this week for an article about a new shop called Treasure and Bond, which donates all its profits to children's charities.
(My mom texted me "Literally just saw YOU in the New Yorker!" I guess the girl in the illustrations DOES look a little like me... ok a lot!)
Here's something to get you in a spooky/Halloween-y (weenie?) mood: a piece I recently completed for Monster Show 2011 at Domy Books in Austin, TX. It's called "The Red Room." If you're in Austin or Houston from October 29 - December 8, definitely check it out in person! Wish I could!
In the last few weeks I got a chance to do two different illustrations for The New Yorker, both about awesome blonde women.
The first was for the upcoming movie "My Week With Marilyn," starring Michelle Williams. I decided to depict Marilyn still being her glamorous self in a headscarf and cool cat-eye shades (that I want) while dodging the paparazzi in London.

The second piece, which is in this week's issue, features Tippi Hedren, another wonderful 60s blonde, from Hitchcock's "The Birds." This job was super quick - got the initial e-mail Thursday night, final due Friday morning - so exciting and fun!
Film Forum is showing several films featuring Bernard Hermann's scores from October 21st to November 3rd, including "Vertigo," "Psycho," and "The Birds." I'm definitely going to go see "Psycho" on the big screen, it's my favorite. Everyone knows this iconic music:
Last week at Ten Paces and Draw was Rockabilly/Greaser week -- so you KNOW I had to beg Alyssa to let me contribute. I completed an awesome sketch by Chris Hajny.
Stay tuned for more rockabilly stuff as I'm currently dreaming up/working on a Wanda Jackson comic/zine!
I have an illustration in the New York Times Sunday Review today! It's for the Opinion section, with four short pieces about what it's like to move back home after you've graduated from college, an experience many recent graduates are now familiar with. You can read it here. Rodrigo Honeywell acted as art director. Thanks Rodrigo!
Here's an illustration I did for the 'Summer' issue of Domestic Etch Magazine. Inspired by 90s girls on tumblr, The Runaways and The Donnas, summer and this song:
